VIRTUAL EMBASSY SPEAKER October 27

Dear students,

We have the fantastic opportunity to welcome our first VIRTUAL EMBASSY SPEAKER online.

The session is going to take place on October 27 between 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p. m. and we are planning to discuss the topic: AMERICAN VALUES – WHAT IS IT TO BE AN AMERICAN?

We are honored to welcome online Dr. Jonathan Herzog – the Foreign Service Officer of the U.S. Embassy in Bratislava.

Dr. Herzog has been a Foreign Service Officer since 2011.  In addition to his current posting as senior political officer at the U.S. Embassy to Slovakia, he served in Washington, D.C., Lithuania, and Mexico.  Prior to joining the Foreign Service, Jonathan held positions at Stanford University and the University of Oregon, where he taught U.S. political history.  He was a National Fellow at the Hoover Institution between 2008-2010 and is the author of The Spiritual-Industrial Complex:  America's Religious Battle Against Communism in the Early Cold War (2011, Oxford University Press).  He has a B.A. in political science and history from the University of Nebraska and an M.A. and Ph.D. in history from Stanford University.

This session is MANDATORY for all students in the Contemporary USA course!
