Dear Colleague: ETS is excited to announce that the Research & Development (R&D) division is now accepting applications for our Summer of 2021 Remote Internship and Fellowship Programs. We value students joining us in our commitment to research, innovation and diversity, and equity and inclusion. We seek undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in research opportunities working in collaboration with ETS team members to carry out innovative and impactful R&D projects that are aligned with ETS's mission. Areas of emphasis include the following: - Assessment, Measurement and Psychometrics: assessment design, validity, fairness, contextualized assessment and reporting, and psychometric modeling
- Education: higher education, career and technical education, teacher education and English as a second language
- Educational Technology: research engineering or back, front and full stack software development
- Learning Science and Design: the science of how individuals learn most effectively and impactful instructional design
- Natural Language Processing: speech recognition and computational linguistics
- Psychology: cognitive psychology, educational psychology and industry-organizational psychology
- Statistics and Data Science: machine learning, causal inference, computational statistics and hierarchical modeling
- User Experience: User experience research and/or design
Research and Measurement Sciences (RMS) Remote Internship Program for Graduate Students Application Deadline: February 1, 2021 Interns will conduct rigorous foundational and applied research on the most critical issues facing education and the workforce. Graduate students who are currently enrolled in full-time doctoral programs in the areas listed above and who have completed a minimum of two years of coursework toward their Ph.D. or Ed.D. prior to the program start date are eligible to apply. AI Research Labs Remote Internship Program Application Deadline: February 1, 2021 Interns will conduct user-inspired research and development leading to the production of technology enhanced learning solutions. Students who have completed a bachelor's degree and are either enrolled in a graduate program or expect to enroll in a graduate program in the next year are invited to apply. The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) Internship Program Application Deadline: February 1, 2021 NAEP seeks undergraduate (entering juniors or seniors in 2021) and graduate students to work on a research assignment within the Research and Measurement Sciences area. Interns will also engage in learning and professional development experiences related to the field of research and development. Harold Gulliksen Psychometric Research Fellowship Program Application Deadlines: January 22, 2021 (preliminary) and March 5, 2021 (final) This program seeks graduate students who have completed their doctoral coursework and are at the dissertation stage of their program, working on a dissertation related to statistics, psychometrics, educational/psychological measurement or quantitative methods. Selected fellows study at their universities and carry out research under the supervision of an academic mentor in consultation and with an ETS researcher or psychometrician.
